Big Break for Pakistani Startups as UberPITCH Arrives in Pakistan

After its tremendous success in 2015 and 2016, UberPITCH brings its startups-meet-investors-program to Pakistan for the first time. The program is set to launch in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi. This is a very good opportunity for startups as Uber will sponsor a few selected entrepreneurs at the ArabNet Digital Summit 2018. This sponsorship would include exhibition space, branding, match-up sessions with key industry leaders and a one minute video to pitch their startup all of which together could help take their business to the next level.

Those who are interested in this can apply by filling out the UberPITCH application form on the app with your startup idea. All applications have to be submitted by the 20th of September here. If your idea is selected an email with the promo code to unlock UberPITCH view will be sent which will allow you to order the ride 11am to 3pm on September 30th.

Once connected you will have a 15-minute Uber ride with the investor industry leader out of which 7 minutes will be for you to pitch your idea and the next 7 will be for feedback from the said judge. The ride will be free and will start and end at your pickup location. The selected startups will be announced on October 4th.

Uber has taken initiative as such before by partnering with The Refinery and the Kauffman Foundation in the United States of America, where they chose startups from 5 cities who would pitch in the Fuel the Growth competition. This would really benefit entrepreneurs from Pakistan as it gives them opportunity to really do the best they can to take their business to the next level and succeed on an international level. Not only that it will help inexperienced entrepreneurs to get in touch with those who have experience and learn from them.

This competition is similar in its essential goal to the Launchpad accelerator by Google which too will help entrepreneurs be successful and take things to the next level. Such initiatives are very successful in Pakistan considering that the environment here is not friendly for the growth of startups with political imbalance and rapid and erratic policy changes.
