The First Province to Enact a Science, Technology & Innovation Policy is KP

By the Directorate of Science and Technology, Government of KP the draft zero of KP STI policy has been finalized after spending a month in exhaustions and consultation with the stakeholders, experts as well as policymakers and youth.

To enact the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) policy in the provincial government, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is the very first one. By the Directorate of Science and Technology, Government of KP the draft zero of KP STI policy has been finalized after spending a month in exhaustions and consultation with the stakeholders, experts as well as policymakers and youth.

The deliberations include the discussion based on groups and questionnaire survey interviews along with the aforementioned target groups to carter to their needs and scope of nature. For the future of STI ecosystem of the province, the provincial STI framework will ascertain the demands,

In 2012 the national STO policy as enacted but none provincial government was able to formulate their policies related to STI.

Mr. Ahsan Hamid Durrani explained the new policy importance and termed it as a comprehensive strategy that would shape the ecosystem of STI and will equip the relevant departments in addressing the growing socio-economic challenges of today’s world.

He further said that without the intervention of science, technology, and innovation, making progress in the field of education, health, food & agriculture, livestock & dairy development, environment and rural development is not possible. This, according to him, necessitates the province to chalk out its STI strategy.
