Microsoft instigates File Manager feature
Microsoft has instigated File Manager in Windows 8.1. This feature will enable the users to browse anything they need and will also allow the access over the locally stored files. This application lets the users to copy or transfer files without a connection to the desktop computer. This exciting application will also let the users create new files or rename the existing files. This application has been launched globally; having the drawback of only being beneficial to those who are using Windows 8.1. No feedback has yet come into consideration for this exciting application.
The cellular operators expecting a reduction in sales tax
Karachi: The cellular mobile operators CMOs appealed that their GST and FED should be equal to that of other sectors. The CMOs appealed that the sales tax or the Federal Excise Duty FED should reduce by 2.5% to 17%. The tax applied on CMOs is 19.5% as compared to 17% which is charged to all the other sectors. CMOs announced that the tax should be equal to all the other sectors and the tax on SIM activation should be abolished. CMOs have to deal with double taxation, 19.5% of taxation is paid to FBR which is equal to the amount of GST charged by provincial governments. This issue is hurting the affordability of service and lowering the revenues as well as a great obstacle in the productivity of the industry.
PTA promotions are doubted
Islamabad: The promotion of Assistant Director from PTA regional office Lahore is politically backed. It has been reported that after the decision, made by the Departmental Promotional Committee for grade 15 and above officers, has given birth to serious issues. It was announced that the Assistant Director from PTA regional Lahore office got promoted having exceptional relations with the currently ruling political party. This may be the reason for the promotion. When asked for commenting on the raised issue, the top management as well as the newly promoted AD refused to answer.
Free 3G services reach Quetta- Ufone
Quetta is the 10th city in the country that has received the 3G service from Ufone. All the cellular operators were required to spread the 3G service in ten cities within a year, though Ufone seems to have achieved this target in 35 days only. Mr. Taimur Faiz Cheema, GM Marketing at Ufone announced that Ufone is providing its 3G services to most cities in Pakistan. He further added that they have exciting plans regarding the expansion of the service. After the usage of 200 MB, the speed will be reduced to 128kbps for exceeding the usage, and the user will be informed through a SMS notification. To avail the 3G service, the customers have to change the network mode from GSM to WCDMA or from 2G & 3G.
