Telecom Gallops Pakistan Away!

Teledensity on its heights!  Teledensity of Pakistan has reached around 76 percent with main contribution from cellular sector and revenues were at all time high of Rs. 440.2 billion. Mobile penetration has reached 72% with around 129 million subscribers.

Hackathon Culminates with Solutions

Hackathon, becomes a new trend setter in Pakistan.  The three-day technology competition was organized in collaboration with the Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT and ITES (P@SHA) and the LUMS’ Technology for People Initiative. Teams developed web, sms and mobile solutions for projects of career databases, missing person portal, blood donation directory and crime mapping in the city.

Mac Turns 30

Apple Mac computer turns 30 years old.  Apple has been busy celebrating the occasion. The Mac was a revolutionary computer, and as such, many besides the Cupertino, Calif., tech giant have also been doing their part to commemorate the milestone.

China Telecom Converges Internet firms

China Telecom has introduced an integrated services platform for internet companies.  Services include “smart” internet speed boosting, escrow payments, internet communications, location-based services, ID verification, and mobile data partnerships. Internet firms will also be able to offer end-users improved China Telecom phone number login services to access apps, bonuses, improved mobile payments, and more.

Pakistan Yearns for Localized YouTube

Delayed Electronic Crime Bill, affects promised version of local YouTube in Pakistan till 2015, as a result of slow implementation of the ‘prevention of electronic crimes bill’. Since the ‘prevention of electronic crimes bill’ that formed the bases of the negotiations between the government and Google-owned YouTube for the localized site, would become applicable in June 2014, YouTube can’t launch the site prior to that.
