In an industry-first Telenor Pakistan claims to have launched cutting-edge 4.5G technology in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad that shows the telecom’s unrelenting commitment to empowering Pakistan through a high-speed data network that enhances customer experience.
The 4.5G was inaugurated by Sigve Brekke CEO Telenor Group who was visiting Pakistan on a 4-day agenda. He placed the first call over this advanced LTE network.
Telenor Pakistan is the first to aggregate its LTE 850 and LTE 1800 networks that utilize the advanced 4.5G feature of ‘Carrier Aggregation’, the new feature customer experience by leveraging the available frequency of different bands.
The license for the provision of Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) across Pakistan was acquired by Telenor in 2014 which opened a whole new era of opportunities in mobile broadband services in the country and fueled exponential data growth in the market.
In 2016, Telenor Pakistan also acquired bandwidth in the 850MHz spectrum to bring 4G services. In order to maximize efficiency on the existing spectrum, Telenor Pakistan also re=farmed its existing 1800 MHz band for LTE services.

The current 4G subscribers of Telenor with compatible handsets will automatically be able to receive the faster speeds. The 4.5G features have already been activated across Telenor sites in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi/Islamabad.
