Pakistan has achieved a major academic milestone as all four members of its national delegation at the 37th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) returned with medals, marking the country’s strongest-ever performance at the prestigious global competition. The team, representing SundarSTEM School, participated in the 2025 edition of IOI held in Bolivia and earned a global ranking of 32 out of 85 participating countries. Each of the students—Muhammad Aneeq, Ghulam Junaid, Muhammad Saram Shahid, and Ahmed Imran Malik—secured bronze medals, making it the first time in Pakistan’s history that every member of a science Olympiad team earned a medal at the international level.
The achievement is a testament to the school’s focused commitment to computer science education and its efforts to raise the standard of STEM learning in the country. It also signals the growing capabilities of Pakistani students to compete at a global level in highly technical and analytical disciplines such as informatics. The students’ performance significantly improved Pakistan’s position from previous years, putting it on the global radar as a serious contender in computing education.
Behind this achievement stands a dedicated group of mentors and trainers who guided the students through the rigorous preparation required for the IOI. The coaching team included Ahmad Usman, Dr. Amir Goharshady, Shayan Chashm Jahan, Abdul Malik Nurrokhman, and Zeeshan Ali, each bringing technical expertise and a structured approach to talent development. Their role was instrumental in equipping the students with the problem-solving skills and algorithmic thinking required to perform in a high-pressure, international competitive environment.
SundarSTEM School has built a strong academic framework that supports in-depth learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Its participation and success at IOI reflect the institution’s goal to nurture high-potential students and give them the tools to achieve excellence on an international platform. By integrating competitive programming and computational thinking into its curriculum, the school is shaping students to be globally competitive from an early stage.
The recognition received at the IOI is not only a proud moment for the school and the families of the medalists but also an important indicator of the progress being made in Pakistan’s STEM education ecosystem. It brings visibility to the talent pipeline emerging from the country and demonstrates how structured academic support, mentorship, and international exposure can produce results that compete with leading countries in science and technology education.
This success also reflects the increasing interest and participation of Pakistani students in global Olympiads and competitions that foster intellectual growth, innovation, and technological capability. It showcases the potential of local institutions like SundarSTEM to lead educational innovation and contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s future as a knowledge-driven economy.
