South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC) Working Group on Policy, Regulation, and Services (PRS) concluded a successful three-day workshop today. The event, hosted by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), focused on crucial aspects of the information and communication technology (ICT) regulatory landscape in South Asia.
Over ten intensive sessions, participants from all nine SATRC member countries exchanged ideas and best practices, fostering a collaborative environment to drive progress in the sector. Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, Chair of the SATRC Working Group on PRS, emphasized the importance of sub-regional collaboration in achieving shared goals. He stressed the need for meticulous execution of identified work items and comprehensive reports to guide future actions.
Major General (Ret.) Hafeez Ur Rehman, Chairman PTA, expressed his appreciation to all delegates and administrations for their commitment to advancing the objectives of the inaugural SATRC PRS meeting. The workshop brought together policymakers and industry representatives from cellular mobile companies, local loop operators, and vendors, along with national and international organizations. Both in-person and virtual participation ensured broad representation from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Iran, Maldives, Sri Lanka, India, and Nepal.
This event served as a valuable platform for constructive dialogue and knowledge sharing, paving the way for advancements in the South Asian telecom and ICT sector.
