Iqra University’s Center of Research and Excellence (IU-Core) has launched the Skill Up – Freelance Excellence Program, offering Iqra University students and alumni an opportunity to enter the digital freelancing industry. This 2-month training initiative aims to provide practical, skill-based learning to help participants turn their passion into a freelancing career. The program is open to students from the 1st to 6th semester and alumni based in Karachi, from any discipline.

The program includes three courses: Mobile App Development, Video Editing & Animation, and Website Development. These hands-on courses focus on high-demand technical skills needed in today’s digital economy. The Mobile App Development course teaches how to create user-friendly applications. The Video Editing, Animation & Vlogging course covers creating engaging video content, while the Website Development course focuses on building dynamic websites to enhance clients’ web presence.

The program begins in January 2025, with classes every Saturday from 3 PM to 6 PM at the EDC Campus of Iqra University. The investment for each course is 6,000 PKR. Registrations are open until December 25, 2024.

IU-Core officials highlighted the importance of freelancing skills in today’s job market, emphasizing the program’s role in bridging education and practical experience. Participants will learn not only technical skills but also how to attract clients and deliver quality work in the freelancing world.

Seats are limited, and interested candidates can apply via registration link.

With Pakistan’s growing digital economy, this program is poised to equip the next generation of tech-driven entrepreneurs and professionals.

Launched in 1967 internationally, ComputerWorld is the oldest tech magazine/media property in the world. In Pakistan, ComputerWorld was launched in 1995. Initially providing news to IT executives only, once CIO Pakistan, its sister brand from the same family, was launched and took over the enterprise reporting domain in Pakistan, CWPK has emerged as a holistic technology media platform reporting everything tech in the country. It remains the oldest continuous IT publishing brand in the country and in 2025 is set to turn 30 years old, which will be its biggest benchmark and a legacy it hopes to continue for years to come.
