Sindh government has partnered with Google and Tech Valley Pakistan to offer over 30,000 scholarships for students at public sector universities across the province. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah highlighted that this program aligns with the broader vision of transforming Sindh into a hub of technological innovation and skill development. He also emphasized that gender inclusivity is a key priority, with at least 30% of the scholarships being reserved for female students to ensure greater participation of women in the digital economy.

Google Career Certificates program offers courses in high-growth fields such as AI, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, IT Automation, and Project Management. Designed by industry experts at Google, these certificates provide flexible, online learning opportunities that can be completed within three to six months, requiring no prior degree or technical background. The courses are intended to equip students with job-ready skills that are globally recognized and valued by employers. The initiative builds upon previous cohorts of Google-certified graduates, many of whom have successfully transitioned into high-paying jobs both in Pakistan and internationally. Salaries for skilled professionals in these domains have reportedly reached as high as Rs 1.6 million per month, demonstrating the immense potential of digital careers.

Among the many success stories emerging from the program is Leena Kumari, a student from the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, who completed Google’s AI Essentials course and secured a placement at Evolution, a technology firm specializing in AI-driven solutions. Her achievements were not only recognized locally but also featured by Google as a testament to the program’s impact. Encouraged by such outcomes, the Sindh government has decided to expand the initiative to over 30 public universities across the province, incorporating new specializations such as Prompting Essentials and Agile Essentials. These additions aim to further enhance students’ competitiveness in the rapidly evolving job market, ensuring they possess both technical expertise and practical business acumen.

This ambitious scholarship program is also closely linked with the Soft Skills & Career Kamyabi Sindh Programme, which focuses on professional development through training in CV writing, interview techniques, and communication skills. By integrating both technical and soft skills training, the initiative aims to produce well-rounded professionals who are not only technically proficient but also equipped with the necessary interpersonal and career management abilities to excel in the workforce. Google’s Government Affairs & Public Policy Lead, Kyle Gardener, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s digital transformation.

“By providing students with the necessary skills and globally recognized certifications, we are helping them unlock new career opportunities and contribute to economic growth.”

With rapid advancements in AI, cloud computing, and digital commerce, the need for a skilled workforce has never been greater. The Sindh government’s collaboration with Google and Tech Valley Pakistan marks a crucial investment in the province’s future, ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds have access to world-class training and the opportunity to participate in the global digital economy. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation, Sindh is positioning itself at the forefront of Pakistan’s technological revolution.
