The world is currently going through one of the biggest challenges it has encountered since over a decade with a Covid-19 pandemic that has resulted in the people around the world isolating themselves and remaining in Quarantine for an undetermined period of time. One of the biggest issue it has caused that those that were dependent on daily wages or were already struggling financially are now suffering from a depletion of earnings and food. In an effort to provide for the state, the Sindh Government have launched a mobile service to provide free ration.
The Sindh government announced the launch of a mobile service to provide ration to the needy and daily wagers affected by the ongoing global pandemic. According to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, during a meeting at CM House, he said: “We will dedicate a number for this cause. Those who need ration can text the number.” The Sindh government also mentioned how this service will plan to work as they plan to generate a number that will be sent to everyone in the state via SMS. If there is anyone or any family that might need food supplies, they can text the number for the ration, and the committee will get in touch with them personally and run the necessary check to facilitate the delivery.
Sindh Chief Minister has made an appeal to philanthropists from around the country to help citizens in the country in these difficult times. He was noted to have said that: “I want daily wagers and needy to be helped on priority in this campaign. I also want no duplication so that maximum number of people can be helped”. Murad Ali Shah placed orders to provincial authorities to distribute ration bags amongst the needy amounting to two million ration bags, including rice, flour, sugar, oil, tea, milk, spices, and three types of lentils, will be distributed to those in need. A warehouse will be established and a helpline where the needy can register themselves for these bags.
