With the count of the Corona virus victims reaching over a thousand, it has become the responsibility of citizens in Pakistan to either make sure they and their family stay safe, or look for ways to counteract the virus. One major goal has now become to contribute and donate to people who are struggling to get food or earn money during this troublesome time. Recently, it was announced that the Sindh Government have announced the launch of a mobile service to provide free ration to those who need it.
The Sindh government announced the launch of a mobile service to provide ration for the needy and particularly for those daily wagers that are affected most by the pandemic. Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Chief Minister, recently spoke during a meeting at CM House and said that: “We will dedicate a number for this cause. Those who need ration can text the number.” The plan launched by the provincial government is to announce and set up a number that will be sent to everyone via SMS and those who need food supplies can text the number for the ration, and the committee will personally contact them and deliver the ration.
Murad Ali Shah particularly requested philanthropists to come forward and help in this cause. He said: “I want daily wagers and needy to be helped on priority in this campaign. I also want no duplication so that maximum number of people can be helped “.According to current plans, two million ration bags, including rice, flour, sugar, oil, tea, milk, spices, and three types of lentils, will be distributed to those in need. Moreover, a warehouse is being established to ensure the proper distribution of the ration. One of their goals is to ensure that every house receives one ration bag and that the houses that receive the ration will be marked to ensure every house gets a bag. Finally, he also stated that a helpline will be established where those that need it can register themselves for this scheme so that they can go through the necessary screening and verification.
