Punjab government has opened registrations for its Chief Minister IT Internship Program, providing paid opportunities for recent graduates across the province to gain industry experience. The program is designed to support youth employment while enhancing skills in Pakistan’s rapidly growing technology sector. Under the initiative, selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000 funded by the provincial government, and gain practical exposure through placements at leading software and IT firms. Internships will run for a period of five months, offering participants hands-on training in high-demand technical skills, project management, and exposure to professional IT environments.
Officials from Punjab Information Technology Board, which is overseeing the execution of the program, explained that internship placements will cover a diverse set of roles, catering to different areas of the IT ecosystem. Participants can be placed in roles such as 3D animation and graphics, software development, Salesforce administration, Laravel and PHP development, DevOps, and product management, along with other technology-related positions. The program is structured to ensure that interns not only acquire technical skills but also gain insights into corporate operations, workflow management, and collaborative software development practices, preparing them for the demands of the local and international IT job market.
Eligibility criteria for the internship require applicants to hold a degree in IT, computer science, or a related field completed within the last four years. Candidates must also possess a valid CNIC and a Punjab domicile. Eligible applicants can submit their applications online at cmitinterns.punjab.gov.pk. Officials stressed that this initiative aims to create a bridge between academic learning and professional experience, allowing fresh graduates to gain confidence, strengthen technical competence, and contribute meaningfully to the technology sector. The program reflects a broader effort by the provincial government to cultivate a skilled workforce capable of supporting innovation and digital transformation across Pakistan.
Authorities highlighted that CMIT Internship Program is part of Punjab’s ongoing strategy to advance the tech ecosystem by equipping young professionals with industry-ready skills. By partnering with private IT companies, the program ensures that interns are exposed to real-world projects, modern development tools, and the latest methodologies. Officials emphasized that this initiative is also expected to encourage private sector participation in talent development and support sustained growth in the province’s IT industry. Participants can expect mentorship opportunities, networking experiences, and professional guidance throughout the internship, positioning them for long-term success in technology careers.
