Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the Digital Traffic E-Challan “One App” to strengthen traffic enforcement and improve transparency across the province. The initiative introduces a modernized system that integrates digital technology into traffic management, enabling authorities to record, verify, and process traffic violations efficiently. By adopting this platform, Punjab aims to enhance road safety, streamline enforcement procedures, and provide a secure and transparent framework for monitoring compliance.

The system captures video evidence of traffic violations in a protected digital format, allowing officials to verify incidents when necessary. Traffic officers can access critical information during roadside inspections, including identity cards, driving licenses, and records of stolen vehicles. This instant access to data ensures that enforcement decisions are accurate and verifiable, reducing errors and disputes while promoting fair compliance with traffic regulations.

The “One App” also provides real-time verification of vehicle ownership, fitness certificates, and route permits. This feature allows field officers to confirm that vehicles meet all regulatory requirements before proceeding, simplifying administrative procedures and improving operational efficiency. Officials have stated that the platform will enable immediate access to essential data, helping officers enforce traffic laws effectively without delays.

Beyond addressing traffic violations, the app supports digital actions against encroachments and environmental breaches. Authorities can review e-challan records, FIR status, and criminal histories through the integrated platform. The system allows multiple departments to coordinate effectively, ensuring timely response to violations and creating a comprehensive enforcement tool that extends beyond traditional traffic management.

The launch reflects Punjab’s commitment to digital transformation and modern governance. By integrating technology into daily enforcement operations, the province is reducing reliance on manual systems and paper-based records. This digital approach not only improves the efficiency and accuracy of enforcement but also enhances accountability and public trust in regulatory processes.

Officials note that the use of video evidence and instant verification reduces conflicts between officers and motorists, as each violation is supported by documented proof. The system’s integration with national databases ensures cross-referencing with broader law enforcement records, promoting a more holistic approach to public safety.

The Digital Traffic E-Challan “One App” exemplifies how technology can simplify administrative processes, increase transparency, and ensure timely enforcement. By equipping officers with real-time access to critical information, the platform enhances compliance monitoring and contributes to safer road conditions. This initiative forms part of Punjab’s wider strategy to leverage digital tools for governance and public service improvement, setting a precedent for modernized enforcement across the province.
