PTA has initiated a comprehensive crackdown on illegal mobile phone SIM cards across the country. The phased operation aims to deactivate SIMs registered with fake or invalid credentials.
In the first phase, SIMs linked to canceled or fake CNICs are being deactivated. The second phase will target SIMs registered with expired CNICs, while the third phase will focus on SIMs registered under the names of deceased individuals.
PTA has urged mobile phone users to update their SIM registration details to avoid any disruptions. The authority emphasized that illegal SIM cards are often used for criminal activities and will not be tolerated.
The move is part of PTA’s ongoing efforts to improve the overall security and integrity of the country’s mobile network.
