Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) underscored its commitment to building a secure, inclusive, and resilient digital Pakistan during its participation at GSMA Digital Nation Summit 2025 in Islamabad. The event served as a platform for PTA to highlight policy reforms, infrastructure advancements, and its strategic approach to shaping the country’s digital future.

In his keynote address, titled “The Regulator’s Perspective: Building a Resilient Digital Ecosystem,” Chairman PTA, Major General (R) Hafeez ur Rehman, outlined the Authority’s forward-focused agenda. He noted a significant policy achievement in aligning government-imposed telecom charges with global standards—a milestone made possible through continuous advocacy and collaboration with government stakeholders to boost investment potential in the sector.

Chairman Rehman pointed to the transformative effects of the Right of Way (RoW) framework, which has successfully removed long-standing barriers to fiber-optic network deployment. This change has accelerated infrastructure expansion and enhanced nationwide service delivery. He reiterated PTA’s commitment to expanding internet access, recognizing its role as a key driver for inclusive socio-economic development across Pakistan.

On the topic of future connectivity, Chairman Rehman addressed spectrum-related challenges and reaffirmed PTA’s determination to ensure the timely launch of 5G services. He stressed the need for stronger collaboration between public, private, and international stakeholders to achieve a digitally empowered Pakistan that aligns with the country’s development goals.

PTA’s vision emphasizes comprehensive policy reform, modernization of telecommunications infrastructure, and encouragement of digital innovation. These initiatives aim to foster resilient and inclusive transformation, delivering long-term economic and social benefits for the nation.

By maintaining a proactive stance, PTA continues to position itself as a central player in advancing Pakistan’s digital landscape, ensuring the telecom sector contributes effectively to sustainable growth and improved service accessibility nationwide.
