Is Wikipedia down? This is due to the 48-hour degradation by the Pakistani government. The PTA tweeted on Wednesday that it had requested Wikipedia to prohibit or remove “sacrilegious articles” and had done so. “A chance for hearing was also offered. But neither the platform appeared before the Authority nor obliged by removing the offensive content, it claimed. Netizens are extremely irate since the authorities has threatened to permanently block them in the event of non-compliance.

“After successfully resolving issues like terrorism, corruption, unemployment, illiteracy, poverty, rupee devaluation, child labour, over population, and inflation the PDM government has finally decided to go after the real issue in the country – Wikipedia!,” wrote one user.

Another person said,

“Terrorists attack a mosque murdering 100 innocent people and the Pakistani government threatens to…block access to Wikipedia.”

They served as a reminder of the restrictions from before.

Because of its style and ease of use, Wikipedia is a significant platform that people use to source information.

And there can be less complicated alternatives to a complete block.
