PTA, in collaboration with cellular mobile operators, has provided the latest update on efforts to restore connectivity in flood-affected regions of Pakistan. Heavy rainfall and flash floods have damaged telecom infrastructure across several districts, causing disruptions in mobile and internet services at a time when communication remains essential for rescue operations and connecting families. PTA emphasized that it stands with the people in these difficult circumstances and is working with operators to ensure timely relief measures.

One of the most significant initiatives introduced by CMOs is the provision of free on-net voice calls for subscribers in affected areas. This facility ensures that users, even those with zero balance, can remain in touch with family members and emergency services. The measure highlights the vital role of telecom services as a lifeline during emergencies, ensuring that communities cut off by floods are not left without access to critical communication channels.

According to PTA, more than 72 percent of the affected sites have already been restored, with restoration work continuing on the remaining sites. Operators are mobilizing resources, technical staff, and backup power solutions to bring damaged infrastructure back online. Despite the operational challenges created by severe weather conditions and difficult terrain, progress has been made rapidly to restore coverage in many areas. PTA confirmed that network restoration remains a top priority and that joint efforts with CMOs are being intensified to minimize downtime.

PTA also acknowledged and appreciated the commitment of CMOs for their timely response in extending relief to telecom consumers. By enabling free calls and accelerating recovery of sites, the operators have played an active role in supporting flood-affected communities. PTA reaffirmed its dedication to uninterrupted connectivity and assured that monitoring teams are actively tracking the situation on the ground, while updates will continue to be shared with the public as progress is made. The authority reiterated that communication networks are a critical part of relief efforts and will remain central to supporting those impacted by the disaster.
