The PlanX Demo Day consisted of so many different and exciting startups each brimming with the potential of reaching greater heights and IDG Pakistan tried its very best to get to know the young and budding startup community present there.

IDG Pakistan got a chance to get to know about the startup called Rabbit drop; they are currently incubated at Plan9 incubation center, and are part of its sixth cycle.

Osama, the Co-founder of Rabbit Drop was very kind to take a few minutes away from his busy stall and talk to the IDG Pakistan team. Osama is a graduate from GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, according to Osama what inspired him and his friend to start Rabbit drop is the fact that they wanted to provide a convenient solution to the people, saying that.

“What Rabbit drop really is an online convenient solution to help you save your time and money, our first product is an online grocery store, now you can just take care of your household with just a click of a button and imagine you can now virtually navigate a grocery store and order all of the items that you need and we deliver within 90 minutes and we charge you minimal delivery fee only Rs150, how convenient would that be?”

Regarding the technology that goes behind Rabbit drop, Osama said,

“Our web app is basically working on Ruby on Rails framework but we have also expanded to an android app and we are working on the iOS right now.”

They also use route optimization to provide efficiency, but according to him that is still done manually and working on Java for an even better service.

According to Osama, “Plan9 has facilitated us in many countless ways without which I don’t think we would be here and they provided us with all the facilities that we needed including legal support as well so that really fast tracked our imitative and we are where we are because of them.”

He also said that events like the Demo Day is the backbone that makes Plan9 successful, “This is a place where every startup comes and has exposure to stuff like investment and customer based and what not. Startups are actually competing in the stalls to be the very best, so they are trying to acquire customers; they are trying to be better.” These events are a push in the right direction for startups, concluded Osama.
