Pakistan Engineering Council concluded the second batch of its Generative AI course with a ceremony held at PEC Headquarters in Islamabad. Speaking at the event, Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir announced PEC’s ambitious goal to train 45,000 engineers in artificial intelligence over the next three years. The initiative aims to integrate AI education across all engineering fields in Pakistan and build a workforce that can meaningfully contribute to the growing digital economy.
The ceremony was attended virtually by engineers across the country, celebrating the successful completion of the six-week online program. Out of more than 4,000 engineers who enrolled, 1,180 participants fulfilled all course requirements and received certificates. Recognition was also given to the top 10 individual performers and three standout project teams for their innovative contributions and technical performance.
The Generative AI course was delivered through collaboration with several international and national partners, including Aspire Pakistan, Pak Angels Silicon Valley USA, and iCodeGuru. The program targeted engineering professionals, academic faculty, students, and industry participants. All course graduates received internationally recognized certificates embedded with QR codes for traceability, and the curriculum focused on foundational and practical concepts in Generative AI.
Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir reiterated PEC’s long-term vision of embedding digital competencies across engineering education and professional practice. He emphasized that equipping engineers with AI capabilities will position them to address future industry challenges and contribute to national innovation goals. The course is part of a broader effort to modernize engineering skillsets and align Pakistan’s engineering community with emerging global standards.
Key stakeholders from the technology and investment community also joined the closing ceremony. Hassan Syed, Chairperson of Aspire Pakistan, and M. Anwar Khan, Founder of Pak Angels, participated virtually and stressed the importance of connecting AI training with commercialization opportunities. They underlined that market-driven innovation is necessary to generate economic returns, attract investment, and scale local talent into global markets.
Senior PEC officials, including Registrar Engr. Khadim Hussain Bhatti, Technical Advisor Engr. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed, Advisor Muhammad Imran Yousaf Qureshi, and Additional Registrar Engr. Muhammad Sohail Khan, were present at the event. Representatives from Aspire Pakistan, iCodeGuru President Dr. Zafar Shahid, and other international partners also participated virtually to reaffirm their commitment to the initiative.
The PEC’s AI training roadmap reflects a strategic effort to equip Pakistan’s engineering talent with future-ready skills. Through continued collaboration with global partners, PEC plans to expand its training programs and create an ecosystem where AI-driven innovation and engineering practice can converge to support the country’s digital transformation and economic resilience.
