On October 7, PASHA Chairman Sajjad Syed was warmly received by Ong Kian Yew, CEO of PIKOM, the National Tech Association of Malaysia, during a high-level meeting at the PIKOM office in Malaysia. Also in attendance were Stan Singh, Chairman of ASOCIO, and Frederick Chong from the PIKOM/ASOCIO Secretariat. The meeting provided a platform to discuss the growing importance of regional cooperation and the shared commitment to driving innovation, economic growth, and digital transformation across Asia-Pacific’s evolving technology ecosystem.
The discussion centered on deepening collaboration between Pakistan and Malaysia, two countries that are emerging as strong contributors to the global technology landscape. Both PASHA and PIKOM emphasized the significance of mutual learning and exchange of expertise in areas such as digital infrastructure, software exports, cloud adoption, and business process services. The dialogue also extended to identifying potential joint initiatives under the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) framework, aimed at expanding opportunities for member economies to participate in regional tech programs and capacity-building activities. This aligns with PASHA’s continued mission to connect Pakistan’s IT industry with international stakeholders and encourage partnerships that support sustainable business growth.
During the meeting, the leadership teams acknowledged the evolving role of digital trade and innovation-led collaboration in shaping Asia’s technology future. With PIKOM representing Malaysia’s leading tech companies and PASHA serving as Pakistan’s premier IT industry association, both organizations explored frameworks for regular engagement and collaborative platforms. These could include hosting joint events, facilitating business-to-business networking opportunities, and initiating knowledge exchange programs for startups and established technology firms. ASOCIO’s involvement further underscores the shared goal of strengthening ties among Asia-Pacific economies, fostering innovation, and promoting the collective interests of regional IT industries.
Sajjad Syed highlighted PASHA’s ongoing commitment to expanding Pakistan’s global presence through strategic partnerships, engagement in international forums, and support for cross-border innovation initiatives. He noted that cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia represents an important step toward fostering stronger economic and technological integration within Asia. The meeting concluded with a shared understanding of the need for continued dialogue and collaboration to ensure that both countries’ tech sectors remain competitive, resilient, and globally connected. Through such engagements, PASHA continues to strengthen Pakistan’s footprint on the international stage, reinforcing its position as a proactive contributor to the global digital economy.
