Pakistan’s journey at the Esports World Cup 2025 ended in disappointment as Tekken champions Arslan Ash and Atif Butt crashed out of the tournament, curtailing hopes for a strong finish on the international stage. Both players, who had carried Pakistan’s reputation in competitive Tekken to new heights over recent years, faced tough opponents and were unable to progress beyond the middle rounds of the event.

Arslan Ash, widely regarded as one of the finest Tekken players in the world and a multiple-time EVO champion, was eliminated by South Korea’s Ulsan during the second phase of the competition, securing 13th place overall. His teammate Atif Butt fared slightly better, defeating Mangja in an earlier matchup but ultimately falling short against Mulgod, finishing in 10th place. The results came as a setback for Pakistan’s strong Tekken scene, which has consistently produced players recognized among the best globally.

For Arslan, this marked another difficult year at the World Cup, following last year’s early exit after his controller stick malfunctioned. Atif, on the other hand, entered the 2025 tournament as a serious contender after an impressive runner-up finish in the previous edition. Reflecting on his performance, Atif Butt shared his disappointment with fans on social media, admitting that mistakes cost him valuable opportunities in critical moments. He added that Korean players, who continue to dominate Tekken competition worldwide, remain a formidable challenge. Arslan also addressed supporters, thanking them for their encouragement despite the result.

With both of Pakistan’s star players now out, attention turns toward upcoming tournaments where they will seek redemption and a chance to reclaim international standing. Despite the setback, the resilience and talent of Arslan Ash and Atif Butt ensure that Pakistan remains an influential force in the global Tekken community. Their performances continue to inspire the country’s thriving esports fanbase, which eagerly awaits the next opportunity for its champions to shine.
