The prestigious Formula Student UK competition is underway, bringing together over 60 university engineering teams from around the globe. Pakistan is well-represented this year by the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) Formula Student Team.

The competition, which runs from July 17th to 20th, sees student-built, high-performance Formula 1-style race cars compete in various design and racing challenges.

NUST has a strong presence at Formula Student UK, having participated since 2012. This year, their entry, the NAS’24, is a testament to their engineering innovation. Designed in collaboration with electric car giant Tesla, the NAS’24 features a unique combination of a Honda CBR 600 F4i motorcycle engine in a rear-wheel-drive configuration and a 60-volt Lithium-ion battery pack with a Tesla-provided battery management system.

Building on their past success, which included a 1st place finish in the 2023 Concept Class Lap Time Simulation event, the NUST team is aiming to impress again this year. The Lap Time Simulation event evaluates a car’s handling and speed on a virtual race track, while the design and cost categories assess the overall engineering and economic efficiency of the vehicle.
