PTA reported an increase in cellular subscribers from 192.32 million in May 2024 to 192.53 million by the end of June 2024. The number of 3G and 4G users also rose, reaching 134.87 million in June, up from 133.26 million the previous month.
The Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) penetration saw an increase, rising from 55.07% at the end of May to 55.61% by the end of June. However, the cellular teledensity, which measures the number of connections per hundred individuals, remained steady at 79%.
Breaking down the data by providers, Jazz saw a decline in 3G users from 3.145 million in May to 3.041 million in June. However, their 4G users increased from 46.547 million to 47.295 million over the same period. Zong experienced a decrease in 3G subscribers from 2.026 million to 1.983 million, while their 4G user base grew from 36.220 million to 36.665 million.
Telenor’s 3G subscribers fell from 1.700 million in May to 1.588 million in June, with a slight increase in 4G users from 24.419 million to 24.680 million. Ufone saw its 3G user count drop from 2.278 million to 2.238 million, while its 4G subscribers increased from 15.306 million to 15.652 million.
Overall, the data highlights a continued shift towards 4G usage among Pakistan’s mobile subscribers, reflecting the growing demand for faster and more reliable mobile internet services.
