With the aim of providing better facilities to the passengers across the country under the vision of 100-day of the present government, the Pakistan Railways has been working to provide Wi-Fi and tracking systems in trains.
According to the Railway Department, 60 percent of the work has been completed so far. A Ministry official speaking to the local news said, “Initially, all passenger trains will have the facility of Wi-Fi, tracking and after that these facilities will also be given in the freight trains.”
He added that the majority of the work for the provision of Wi-Fi and tracking systems has been completed. Furthermore, the official said that Overseas Pakistani have offered free of charge services regarding software for providing Wi-Fi and tracking facilities in passenger trains.
According to the official, passengers will soon be able to use free internet services via Wi-Fi while travelling with Pakistan Railways. According to him, these steps will improve the status of Pakistan Railways and make train journeys more pleasant and safer for the travelers.
Furthermore, the official also revealed that the Railway is planning to launch a new Rehman Baba train service that will only have economy class that meets the needs of the poor. However, regarding Main Line-1 and Main Line-II, he said that the Ministry of Railways will be taking important decisions about these lines in the coming month or so. He also said tends to increase the number of freight trains from eight to ten that operate from Karachi to 12 to 13 in number.
