Dr. Nadeem Jan, the Caretaker Federal Minister for Health, has unveiled a new app for the online registration and licensing of drugs, a significant stride in advancing the country’s drug registration and licensing system.
Pharmaceutical companies can now seamlessly submit applications for registration and licenses online, eliminating the need for in-person visits to DRAP (Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan). The digital system extends to the registration and licensing of new multinational companies, with the aim of boosting exports and building confidence among international organizations in Pakistan’s pharmaceutical sector.
The health minister emphasized the establishment of a foundation of merit and transparency in DRAP, leading to a substantial increase in institutional efficiency. This is expected to foster public confidence in the regulatory body.
Dr. Nadeem Jan stated, “We are actively working to implement a reform agenda in the Ministry of Health, promoting transparency through this initiative.”
In addition to the app for online registration, Dr. Nadeem Jan launched a complaint app to facilitate direct communication with the regulator. He affirmed, “We are taking practical steps to modernize DRAP, ensuring it aligns with international standards.”
Coordinated efforts are in progress to align DRAP with global benchmarks, showcasing a commitment to continuous improvement and advancement in the health sector.
