Pakistan Freelancers Association, commonly known as PAFLA, and SI Global Solutions have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Karachi, outlining a framework for joint collaboration aimed at strengthening and expanding Pakistan’s rapidly growing freelancing ecosystem. The agreement was signed by PAFLA Chairman Ibrahim Amin and SI Global Solutions Chief Executive Officer Dr Noman A Said, and covers a broad range of initiatives including training workshops, mentorship programmes, industry linkages, and awareness campaigns designed to promote freelancing as a viable and sustainable long-term career path for Pakistani youth.
The signing comes at a time when Pakistan’s freelance sector is registering substantial economic contributions. PAFLA Chairman Ibrahim Amin noted that the country’s freelancers earned over 500 million United States dollars in foreign exchange during the first half of the current financial year alone, with total earnings expected to cross the one billion dollar mark by the close of the financial year. He emphasised that while Pakistan possesses immense talent, particularly among its young population, structured support and capacity-building efforts remain essential to fully harness that potential. In this context, he underscored the critical role that information technology companies can play in bridging existing skill gaps and equipping freelancers with the resources they need to perform competitively on the international stage.
Dr Noman A Said echoed the importance of private sector participation in national development, stressing that skill development and human resource capacity-building are among the most pressing needs of the hour. He noted that SI Global Solutions already operates a dedicated training unit for freelancers and students, offering practical coaching on business development strategies. Through the partnership with PAFLA, the company aims to create structured pathways that enable Pakistani youth to develop competitive, market-relevant skills and access global digital opportunities more effectively. Both organisations have committed to working together on training initiatives, knowledge-sharing platforms, and programmes designed to give freelancers the tools and expertise needed to thrive in international markets.
The scale of the challenge, and the opportunity, is reflected in the numbers. According to a report by the Asian Development Bank, Pakistan’s freelancer population has surged to approximately 2.37 million and is projected to grow further in the years ahead. With Pakistan already ranking among the top freelancing nations globally, the collaboration between PAFLA and SI Global Solutions represents a targeted private-sector effort to ensure that growth in freelancer numbers is matched by a corresponding improvement in skills, earning capacity, and global competitiveness, ultimately contributing to the country’s broader digital economy ambitions.
