  • Seemingly opposition party, namely PML(N), was shaken by a sudden news that Pakistan is auctioning three 3G licenses on March 29th, 2012 at a base price of USD 210 million for one license.

  • IT ALSO WAS A BIT POLITICAL AS PMLN OPPOSED THE AUCTION SAYING THE AUCTION PRICE WAS TOO LOW. BESIDES, THEY ALSO FEARED CORRUPTION IN THE AUCTION SALE. THE 3G DISCUSSION WAS IN PROGRESS FOR QUITE A LONG TIME AND THE OPPOSITION COULD HAVE SOLVED AND DISCUSSED THE PROBLEM EARLIER WHEN THE POLICY WAS IN THE MAKING. BECAUSE WITH THAT, THERE WERE STILL EASY CHANCES FOR THE LAUNCH OF 3G SERICES AFTER THE MUTUAL AGREEMENT OF GOVERNMENT AND THE OPPOSITION. BUT APPRARENLY WHAT SEEMED WAS THE OPPOSITION WAS UNAWARE OF THIS PROGRESS AND ONLY CAM E TO HEAR ABOUT IT WHEN PTA ADVERTISED THE AUCTION.
