As the days progress relief efforts for the earthquake are taking off at a steady speed. National Disaster Management Authority Pakistan has been actively taking part in rescue and relief efforts for the earthquake hit people in Pakistan.
The NDMA has taken measures by collaborating with the Pakistan Air Force and sending out C-13 carrying about 2550 blankets for the earthquake affectees of Chitral, released 15,500 blankets, 8,750 tents 3,500 plastic mats, 14000 tarpaulin shelter, 10 ton of Food Packs and 14 tons of bottled water for the earthquake affectees, for awareness they have along with PTA have issued precautionary SMS to areas such as Shangla, Upper Dir, Chitral and Bajaur Agency.
Recently NDMA has also joined hands with United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) for joint work plan to promote child centered disaster reduction approach in Pakistan. This work plan will be focusing on child-centered rick reduction through child inclusive risk assessment, implementation of a comprehensive school safety program, and encouraging children participation through advocacy and communication knowledge management. This partnership is to be about for a year with a possible extension in the years to come.
With this step the NDMA hopes to minimize risks for children and ensure their well being by being well prepared, responsive and for recovery in the face of disasters.
