NADRA has expanded the functionality of its PakID mobile app, introducing a digital facility that allows citizens to register births and deaths without visiting government offices. This new service has initially been rolled out in the union councils of Jhelum, Chakwal, and Nankana Sahib in Punjab. These districts were prioritised due to administrative disruptions caused by recent floods, which made conventional registration processes time-consuming and challenging for residents. By enabling mobile registration, NADRA aims to provide greater convenience and accessibility for communities in affected areas while streamlining administrative workflows.

Through the PakID mobile app, residents can submit applications, upload required documents, and track the status of their registrations in real time. NADRA officials stated that the authority is working closely with local administrations to gradually expand the service across other provinces. Preparations for nationwide rollout are underway, including the establishment of administrative support and digital infrastructure necessary to ensure smooth operations. The app-based registration system is part of NADRA’s broader strategy to digitize citizen services, reduce paperwork, and enhance the efficiency of government processes for everyday users.

The introduction of digital birth and death registration offers multiple advantages for citizens and government institutions alike. Residents in flood-affected or remote regions can now access official records without repeated visits to union council offices, saving both time and resources. The centralized digital system ensures that population records are more accurate and transparent, while processing times are significantly reduced compared to manual registrations. NADRA officials highlighted that the mobile app facility not only improves service delivery but also supports the broader goal of making government services more accessible to all Pakistanis, particularly those in underserved areas.

By leveraging mobile technology, NADRA is positioning the PakID app as a key tool for modernizing public service delivery. The initiative reflects a shift toward digital governance, where citizens can interact with government services efficiently, securely, and remotely. In addition to offering convenience and transparency, the system allows authorities to maintain accurate, real-time population data, which can support planning and resource allocation at both local and national levels. As the service is extended to additional districts and provinces, NADRA expects wider adoption of the PakID mobile app, reinforcing its role in facilitating accessible, citizen-centric digital services across Pakistan.
