The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) is gearing up to present the progress of the Digital Economy Enhancement (DEEP) Project to a World Bank team during their upcoming visit to Pakistan.

Following these briefings, the World Bank is expected to discuss the DEEP Project in its board meeting. Once approved, the project will proceed to the Economic Coordination Council (ECC) for further consideration, paving the way for its implementation.

The ambitious DEEP Project focuses on the crucial role of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in establishing secure data exchange layers. The project aims to create a seamless mechanism for data exchange among various government organizations, enhancing efficiency and collaboration.

To oversee the project’s execution, a dedicated Project Management Unit (PMU) will be established at the Ministry of IT and Telecom. Led by a Project Director, this unit will feature specialists in financial management, procurement, social and environmental safeguards, monitoring and evaluation, and communications/outreach.

This collaborative effort involves key stakeholders such as the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), the National Information Technology Board (NITB), NADRA, Ignite, and the Board of Investment (BOI). Together, they aim to leverage their expertise for a comprehensive and impactful digital transformation.
