The ride hailing apps in Pakistan are certainly booming, with the advent of cab services such as Careem and Uber. Many local versions of such have also made their way in the country Travly, Limofied and Paxi.

New entrants in the industry always means that more opportunities for employment, Paxi is a ride hailing service that goes beyond hailing just hailing cabs via an app. They also have bikes, and cabs just for women called the Pink Taxis. One can book a Paxi by calling their call center or sending an SMS.

Explaining how the service works, the founder of Paxi talking to a local newspaper said:

“When a customer calls at the call centre, the representative sitting there will create an account of the customer using their cell number and issue them a 4-digit PIN. Once the ride comes to the customer, they’ll have to give the 4-digit code to initiate the ride.”

Recently Paxi has partnered up with NOWPDP, a disability inclusion initiative in an attempt to create opportunities to economically empower persons with disabilities. They have agreed to hire six people with lower limb impairments as bike riders for their bike taxi service. The riders will be using the retro fitted or three wheeler bikes specially designed for them.
