Lucky Motor Corporation has entered into an exclusive strategic partnership with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd., better known as GAC Group, marking a significant development in Pakistan’s push toward electric mobility. GAC Group, a Chinese state-owned automotive giant, has consistently maintained its position in the Fortune 500 for over a decade and has led vehicle quality rankings in China for multiple consecutive years. The company is widely recognised for its joint manufacturing of global brands such as Toyota and Honda for the Chinese market, alongside its own rapidly growing portfolio of electric vehicle brands including Aion and Hyptec, which have remained among China’s top-selling electric vehicle marques in recent years.
Under its integrated “ONE GAC” framework, the company oversees a comprehensive ecosystem spanning mineral sourcing, battery development, vehicle production, and recycling. GAC’s technological edge lies in its battery innovations, including lithium iron phosphate, nickel manganese cobalt, and emerging solid-state batteries, with its proprietary Magazine Battery platform designed with enhanced safety features including resistance to thermal runaway even under extreme conditions. Its next-generation solid-state batteries are expected to achieve energy densities of up to 400 Wh/kg, further improving vehicle range and efficiency. The company is also advancing autonomous driving systems, battery-swapping infrastructure, and next-generation air mobility platforms, making it one of the more comprehensively integrated players in the global electric vehicle space.
Through the partnership, Lucky Motor Corporation aims to introduce competitively priced, technologically advanced electric vehicles to Pakistani consumers, with the collaboration also focusing on sustainable mobility solutions including battery lifecycle management and the potential rollout of battery-swapping infrastructure across key markets. Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Faisal said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to bringing high-quality, innovation-driven vehicles to Pakistan supported by a robust after-sales network, while Chairman Muhammad Ali Tabba emphasised the alliance’s role in promoting technology transfer, industrial growth, and a quality-focused automotive ecosystem. GAC’s senior executive Wang Shunsheng expressed confidence in Lucky Motor Corporation’s capabilities and noted that the partnership would accelerate the introduction of advanced new energy vehicles while delivering strong value to local consumers. Lucky Motor Corporation has indicated that further details regarding the product lineup, dealership expansion, and commercialisation timelines will be revealed in the coming weeks.
