In a move to enhance educational standards in government schools, the Lahore School Education Department, in collaboration with UNICEF, is launching a pilot WhatsApp learning program.
The program will target ten schools initially, with five teachers and ten parents from each school participating in a four-week training session. This training aims to improve communication and collaboration between educators and parents, ultimately leading to better quality education for public school students.
This initiative comes alongside a broader public school reorganization program approved by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The program focuses on revamping government schools across the province.
Chief Minister Nawaz has set ambitious goals, including the construction or rehabilitation of 1,000 school grounds within six months. Additionally, she has directed the implementation of weekly and monthly competitions in schools to foster a more engaging learning environment.
To identify and address specific needs across the province, a comprehensive mapping of all schools in Punjab is also underway. This data will be used to inform future improvements and investments in the education sector.
The program also includes plans to formalize the employment of 14,000 Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) and Secondary School Educators (SSEs) in Punjab, providing greater stability for these educators.
