Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) has claimed the prestigious “Most Wanted Game” award at the 2024 Golden Joystick Awards. This recognition solidifies the game’s position as one of the most anticipated titles in gaming history.

Set for release in Fall 2025, GTA 6 has generated immense excitement and anticipation among fans worldwide. The game’s development team, led by Rockstar Games, has been working tirelessly to bring this ambitious project to life.

David Manley, Publishing Director at Rockstar Games, accepted the award on behalf of the team, expressing gratitude to fans for their unwavering support. He hinted at the game’s groundbreaking features, stating, “There’s an incredible amount of people doing amazing things on Grand Theft Auto 6. Absolutely mind-blowing things.”

The Golden Joystick Awards, a renowned celebration of the best in gaming, saw GTA 6 emerge victorious from a competitive field, including titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Death Stranding 2, and Monster Hunter Wilds. This win further underscores the immense anticipation surrounding the game’s release.

While GTA 6 claimed the “Most Wanted Game” award, other notable winners at the ceremony included Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, which took home four awards, and Helldivers 2, which won three. Black Myth: Wukong, an indie title, was crowned the Ultimate Game of the Year.

Despite recent industry challenges like actor strikes and global disruptions, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has confirmed that GTA 6 will be released as scheduled in Fall 2025. This announcement follows the release of a highly anticipated trailer in December 2023, which broke viewership records and ignited further excitement among fans.

While AI has been making significant strides in various industries, CEO Strauss Zelnick clarified that it won’t revolutionize game development timelines. While AI can streamline certain processes, it won’t drastically reduce development time or costs for a game of GTA 6’s scale.

As the release date approaches, fans eagerly await more details about GTA 6’s gameplay, story, and innovative features. Rockstar Games has kept a tight lid on information, but the anticipation surrounding the game continues to grow.
