Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman inaugurated the inaugural International Electrical Vehicle Expo 2023 at the University of Lahore (UoL) on Wednesday. During his address at the ceremony, Governor Rehman emphasized the significance of embracing new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, to meet the demands of the modern era. The expo, showcasing electric vehicles and artificial intelligence innovations, provided a platform for national and international companies to display their products and foster collaborations.

Governor Rehman underscored the role of technology and collaboration in the ongoing fourth industrial revolution, emphasizing that working together yields better results. He highlighted the positive impact of public-private partnerships on various projects and commended the interaction between academia and industry at the exhibition, especially in promoting environmentally friendly transport through electric vehicles.

Expressing satisfaction with the participation of international companies in the expo, Governor Rehman noted that their expertise and technology would contribute to accelerating the adoption of these technologies in Pakistan, creating new opportunities for citizens. He lauded the expo as a testament to the power of innovation and collaboration, showcasing the positive outcomes when government, academia, and industry unite to address environmental challenges with innovative technologies.

Governor Rehman also praised the caretaker Punjab government and caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi for their exceptional performance in dealing with important issues, including smog. He stressed the importance of education in ensuring a prosperous future and a developed society, addressing the issue of out-of-school children and expressing concern about its alarming increase since 2018.

Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Jamal Nasir highlighted the expo’s significance in the context of the energy crisis and environmental pollution. He emphasized that the promotion of electric vehicles would enhance the environment and create employment opportunities. The Punjab government’s plans to promote electric vehicles and initiate loans for youth were also mentioned, along with the caretaker Chief Minister Punjab’s efforts to address smog through long-term planning.

The event featured addresses from various speakers, including Provincial Health Minister Jamal Nasir, Co-Chairman UoL Uzair Rauf, Rector UoL Dr. Ashraf, Dr. Azar Khan, and Dr. Engr Ali Hussain. Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman concluded the event by distributing shields to individuals associated with the electrical vehicles and green technology industry in Pakistan for their outstanding contributions.
