In a strategic move to bolster the IT and Telecom sector, the federal government has formed an Advisory Committee under the leadership of Minister of State for IT and Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja.

Comprising esteemed members including Salman Ahmed, Danish Lakhani, Asif Peer, Zeeshan Shah, Amir Ibrahim, Hatem Bamatraf, Ali Mukhtar, Fatima Said, and Nadeem Elahi, the committee aims to drive growth, tackle challenges, and devise strategies to enhance the sector’s performance.

The committee’s mandate extends to identifying growth opportunities, addressing challenges, and proposing strategies to amplify exports of IT and IT-enabled services over the next five years. Additionally, it seeks to attract investments to fuel sectoral expansion.

With a broad scope of responsibilities, the committee will assess capacity gaps in both public and private sectors, offering recommendations to bridge these disparities. Furthermore, it retains the authority to address any pertinent issues crucial for sectoral advancement.

To streamline its efforts, the advisory committee is empowered to establish sub-committees with specific focuses and timelines. Regular meetings, held either virtually or in-person, will ensure continuous progress and proactive decision-making.
