The Google Business Group (GBG) Lahore held a technology conference BizFest here on Saturday 22nd December 2018. BizFest 2018 was a full day event where experts from various industries represented innovation, technological development and the future through panel discussions and keynote speeches about the state of technology, startups, entrepreneurship, and innovation in Pakistan,

BizFest is an annual conference that is held to create a platform for Google product training, start-up workshops and entrepreneurship talks. Participants get the chance to learn how to use Google products and technologies to start and scale their businesses and develop themselves through capacity building workshops from top experts and entrepreneurs. The best part is that it offers training to three different levels: student, entrepreneurs and business developers.

Powered by Fatima Ventures, the event took place at the University of Central Punjab. The main focus was on guiding aspiring entrepreneurs to make decisions based on data and technology utilization. The sessions included talks on Digital Transformation, Video in Pakistan, Business Incubation, Future of Work, Moonshot Thinking, and Startup Ecosystem.

The speakers were extremely accomplished in their genres from organizations like Google, CocaCola, Q-Mobile, JS Bank, Telenor Pakistan, Cognizant, Careem, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and the National Incubation Center (NIC). Google’s Faraz Azhar spoke about moonshot thinking: the concept of moonshot thinking and how people and organizations need to aim for the moon and always strive to keep expectations higher than before.

Sadaf Zarrar, Head of Integrated Marketing Communications at Coca-Cola Pakistan and Q-Mobile Group Marketing Director, Zeeshan talked about the changing dynamics of marketing, and the challenges faced by organizations in the age of disruptive technology and highlighted how digital content has completely  changed the way of advertising today.

In the spirit of innovation, the conversation was directed to reinventing society and the way it thinks.   We speak of feminism and women’s rights in today’s day and age but there are still some topics that we keep hush hush. Dr. Shazia Lone founder of LOSHA.pk is challenging a taboo of our country which stops women to talk about topics that our society deems inappropriate. Her passion is like none other and her speech highlighted that exceptionally.

As a closing note Arzish Azam, GBG Lahore’s Manager said,

“Despite being the tech hub of Pakistan, Lahore doesn’t have a signature technology conference which would represent the achievements of the local community. BizFest 2018 is just the first step in a series of collaborative initiatives that we are planning in the coming years to mark Lahore as a technology capital in the world.”

This event was a real amalgamation of development, innovation, technology and redefinition and PC World / IDG is proud to be associated with the event as partners.
