Pakistan Officially Launches Digital Foreign Direct Investment Forum 2025, Signaling a Bold Step into the Global Digital Future

Islamabad has officially announced the launch of the Digital Foreign Direct Investment (DFDI) Forum 2025, a landmark event to be held in Pakistan. This initiative — spearheaded by the Ministry of IT & Telecommunication, the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), Tech Destination Pakistan, and the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) — marks a significant step in Pakistan’s ambition to become a central player in the global digital economy.

DFDI 2025 will feature high-profile keynote speakers, including:

  • H.E. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
  • H.E. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister, Islamic Republic of Pakistan
  • H.E. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Government of Pakistan
  • H.E. Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Government of Pakistan
  • H.E. Deemah AlYahya, Secretary General, Digital Cooperation Organization

The official announcement came directly from H.E. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, who emphasized Pakistan’s commitment and potential in the digital realm. Her statement reflects Pakistan’s strategic positioning and rapid growth in the technology sector:

“It’s a milestone for Pakistan’s digital future. I am proud to officially announce the launch of Digital Foreign Direct Investment Forum 2025. As a founding member of DCO, Pakistan is playing a central role in shaping the future of the global digital economy. With our upcoming presidency of the DCO in 2026, we are ready to lead this transformation from the front.

Pakistan’s tech landscape is evolving rapidly. With over 26,000 SECP-registered tech firms and a growing pool of more than 75,000 IT graduates every year, we have emerging talent driving innovation and placing Pakistan at the forefront of the digital revolution.

And we are seeing that impact reflected directly in our export performance, which is growing at nearly 25.5% compared to the same period last year.

DFDI is not just a program — it is a commitment. We are opening doors to international partnerships, nurturing our startups, empowering our freelancers, and building a connected, future-ready Pakistan.

Tech Destination Pakistan — Invest, Innovate, and Thrive with us as we lay the foundation for a new era. Pakistan is ready, the future is digital, and it begins now. Join us for a digital future.”

Minister Khawaja’s remarks spotlight Pakistan’s strong foundation in its burgeoning tech industry, supported by a large number of registered tech firms and a vibrant, highly skilled IT workforce.
The impressive 25.5% growth in IT exports is a clear signal of the country’s rising prominence on the global digital stage.

The DFDI Forum 2025 is envisioned as a pivotal platform to attract digital foreign direct investment, foster global collaborations, and showcase the immense potential of Pakistan’s digital economy to the world.

As a founding member of the DCO and with its upcoming presidency, Pakistan is strategically positioning itself to lead digital transformation efforts across DCO member states and beyond.
