The 10th South Asian International Conference (SAICON) recently took place at the COMSTECH Secretariat, Islamabad. It is an annual conference organized by the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) and the custodians of the South Asian Chapter of the Academy for Global Business Advancement (AGBA).

The SAICON is a platform through which contemporary and developing ideas on business, economic and social sciences are discussed where academics and researchers interact with the industry professionals.

Omer Salimullah was one of the speakers at the SAICON. He spoke about Artificial Intelligence and the Era of Cognitive Banking. According to him, two technological forces i.e. AI and Robotic process automation (RPA) implemented properly will have a significant impact on banks in the near future.

He said that Voice Bot and AI will allow banks to communicate with customers intelligently i.e. recognizing the needs and wants of individual customers through AI and at scale, especially once Google starts officially supporting Urdu in 2019.

Furthermore, RPA will result in major reduction in turn-around times of various customer requests (higher customer satisfaction) and will free up staff from doing manual and repetitive tasks and focus on creative ones (higher staff satisfaction).
