Cloudcade is free-to-play mobile games developer and publisher with the vision of creating beautiful and innovative games in which would disrupt the global gaming ecosystem, based in San Francisco was founded in 2014.

Their games such as Shop Heroes in the past five years have done extremely well, and now the company is planning on expanding and has made the announcement of its Cloudcade Pakistan studio. This move is a big one in terms of investment in Pakistan as a tech hub, and the move also highlights how the gaming industry is growing. According to Venturebeat, Cloudcade is to invest $6 million over three years in the Pakistan studio in the city of Lahore.

The Cloudcade Pakistan studio will be led by Ammar Zaeem, cofounder of Pakistan’s mobile game studio Caramel Tech. Ammar Zaeem will be serving as the President of studios in South Asia for Cloudcade and will be bringing the experience of building and managing game development studios such as Caramel Tech, which he cofounded with his brothers Saad and Shayan Zaeem.  However, according to Ammar Caramel Tech is to remain a separate company and won’t be joining Cloudcade.

Jeffery Kong, President of Studios for North America spelaing on the occasion said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Ammar and the entire Pakistan team to the Cloudcade family. We’ve had a great relationship working together on multiple key projects, and they’ve proven themselves as capable and thoughtful partners.”

Ammar speaking about Cloudcade’s venture to Pakistan said, “Cloudcade is committing to spend a lot of money in our country. In the long run, this will make things happen for a lot of people. In the long run, work for hire doesn’t get you to where you want to be. I thought this would make more sense for us.”

Furthermore, according to Di Huang, CEO at Cloudcade, the Cloudcade Pakistan studio will be the first Cloudcade office in Asia. He further added that, “This office gives us the ability to serve customers around the world and provides firepower for our both our development efforts and publishing partnerships by effectively lowering communication costs.”

Other than Shop Heroes, Cloudcade has also launched Gems Frontier and is working on its card battle game Card Brawl.
