ClimateLaunchpadis a global competition platform that showcases green business ideas to cut down pollution in the world and for the first time is starting in Pakistan

ClimateLaunchpadis a global competition platform provides opportunity to show green business ideas to cut down pollution in the world. Considering this, for the first time it’s happening in Pakistan to initiate innovative business plans.ClimateLaunchpad is the world’s largest green business ideas competition. Our mission is to unlock the world’s cleantech potential that addresses climate change. The competition creates a stage for those ideas. ClimateLaunchpad is part of the Entrepreneurship offerings of EIT Climate-KIC. Founded in 2014, they aim to tackle climate change by helping entrepreneurs anywhere on the globe build successful startups that can have an impact. The aim to do this through training dedicated individuals in this calls and help in enhancing their skillset in order for them to build their idea into a successful company and hence create an ecosystem in the world that can systematically tackle climate issues. As a globally recognized and successful initiative around the world, ClimateLaunchpad have now expanded their services in Pakistan as well.

The primary aim of ClimateLaunchpad in Pakistan is to launch a two-day training bootcamp outset that is focused for clean-tech innovators with an entrepreneurship curriculum. According to their website, FransNauta, Founder of Climate Launchpad will be leading the bootcamp.This training bootcamp will include a total of 25 teams from across Pakistan, including teams from Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan, Sahiwal, Mardan, Swabi and Gilgit.

All of these initiatives fall under the governments plan to focus on a more Green Pakistan. Hence, this program falls directly under the Prime Minister’s initiative ‘Clean-Green Pakistan’. Moreover, the ministry of climate change (MoCC) will be tasked to involve students from a wide and diverse demographic and use the incentive of an international competition as a way to gain more reach. After ClimateLaunchpad Pakistan 2019 is underway, 2 teams will be shortlisted at the end that would later represent Pakistan at the international stage that will be held in November against 49 other countries.ClimateLaunchpad Pakistan is being held in partnership with Lucky Cement, Shell, City FM 98, Impact network Pakistan, Dalda, Eco-guards, women engineers Pakistan etc.This will only help grow the entrepreneurship sector in the country and will build on the potentialof the younger generation to develop innovative products, services, flourishing startups.
