The Central Depository Company (CDC), in collaboration with Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance (PICG), has officially launched “Shareholder Agahi,” a dedicated digital portal aimed at improving investor awareness and participation in the country’s capital markets. The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) guided the development of the initiative, underscoring its importance for strengthening transparency and governance across the financial ecosystem. The portal is positioned as a comprehensive tool to empower shareholders by giving them direct access to reliable information, education, and engagement resources.
Shareholder Agahi has been designed with a wide range of features to meet the needs of retail investors. At its core, the platform houses a Shareholder Rights hub, which includes FAQs, explanatory video guides, and interactive webinars that simplify the understanding of complex regulations. It also provides a structured learning section where investors can access online courses and educational modules designed to raise financial literacy. Beyond this, the portal integrates a consolidated library containing company disclosures, market insights, research material, and regular updates, enabling investors to stay informed and make better decisions. To further enhance participation, an investor dashboard offers real-time tracking of corporate announcements, upcoming shareholder meetings, and seamless access to e-voting systems.
The platform has also been developed with inclusivity and accessibility as key priorities, offering services in both Urdu and English to ensure it reaches a broader audience. By bridging the language gap, Shareholder Agahi aims to bring more retail investors into the fold of active participation in corporate decision-making. With digital access to governance-related information and shareholder tools, investors are now better positioned to engage with listed companies in a transparent manner.
Commenting on the launch, Badiuddin Akber, CEO of CDC, highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to advancing Pakistan’s capital market infrastructure. He noted that CDC has continuously introduced initiatives to strengthen transparency, improve governance, and encourage investor engagement. “CDC plays a key role in developing the infrastructure that supports Pakistan’s capital markets. By leveraging our expertise in market operations, we continuously work to enhance transparency and investor participation. Shareholder Agahi is a prime example of how we advance the market by providing investors with seamless access to information and engagement tools,” he stated. The initiative marks another step forward in strengthening the foundation for a more transparent, accessible, and inclusive investment environment in Pakistan.
