In a strategic move that promises to shake up the eCommerce landscape, BuyPass.ai, a stealth startup focused on digitizing offline commerce, has successfully closed an angel funding round to launch its operations. Founded by Muhammad Ammar Hassan, an ex-OLX (Prosus) and Daraz (Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group) executive, BuyPass aims to merge the physical and digital shopping worlds using cutting-edge technology and AI.

A Visionary Founder with eCommerce Expertise

Muhammad Ammar Hassan brings over a decade of experience in building and scaling C2C and B2C platforms across various markets, including leadership roles at global giants OLX and Daraz. His deep understanding of both traditional commerce and eCommerce has inspired the creation of BuyPass, a platform designed to address the key gaps he identified throughout his career.

Commenting on the launch, Hassan shared his excitement, saying,

“We are thrilled to have secured the funding to kick off our journey and to have the right strategic backers in place. Their expertise and guidance will be invaluable as we continue to grow and scale our business.”

Strategic Partnership & Funding Round

The angel funding round was co-led by prominent UAE-based Pakistani entrepreneur Umair Masoom, a seasoned investor with a history of raising over $30 million from renowned VCs across the US, EU, and GCC. Masoom, who will join BuyPass as a Founder Partner and Board Member, will play a key role in guiding the startup’s international growth and capital strategy.

“I am confident that BuyPass’s business model will disrupt the current digital commerce and application layer landscape in our core markets.”

BuyPass’s E-Commerce Suite

BuyPass is committed to transforming the shopping and services sector through its proprietary technology, with a vision to become a digital superapp offering integrated AI tools and software solutions. The startup is focused on enabling consumers to bridge the gap between online and offline commerce seamlessly, creating more opportunities for them to meet their daily needs.

While BuyPass remains in stealth mode, its product reveal is slated for mid-2025, when it plans to unveil an innovative suite of services aimed at revolutionizing the way consumers shop for products and services.

The seed funding will be used to develop the core technology and infrastructure required to support BuyPass’s ambitious growth plans, which aim to redefine the eCommerce experience across the GCC and Asia.

With a strong leadership team and a clear mission, BuyPass is well-positioned to become a key player in the region’s digital transformation, offering a new way for consumers to engage with both the online and offline worlds. Stay tuned for more updates as BuyPass prepares to make its mark on the eCommerce ecosystem in 2025.
