Speculation around a video game adaptation of Marvel’s Blade has circulated for several years, beginning with online rumors in 2022 that suggested Ubisoft was developing a title based on the iconic day walking vampire. Ubisoft later clarified that it was not involved in any Blade project, though that clarification did not rule out development elsewhere. In 2023, the mystery was resolved when Arkane Lyon officially revealed Marvel’s Blade, a third person single player action adventure game set in Paris. The announcement was one of the notable reveals at The Game Awards 2023 and was followed shortly by the release of detailed concept art that offered an early glimpse into the game’s tone and setting. Since then, however, official updates have been limited, leading to growing curiosity within the gaming community.

Following the initial reveal and concept art showcase, Arkane Lyon maintained a low public profile regarding the project. Attention briefly returned to the studio when Arkane Austin was Sacked, prompting studio director and co creative director Dinga Bakaba to publicly express his disappointment over the closure. While that moment highlighted internal challenges within the wider Arkane network, it did not include new information about Marvel’s Blade itself. The next meaningful insight arrived in mid 2025, when a financial report from Arkane Lyon indicated that the game had entered its production phase in late 2024. This suggested that the team had moved beyond concept development and pre production and had spent roughly one year actively building the game as of the end of 2025.

That timeline helps explain the studio’s current silence. In response to a fan on X who shared a wish to see news about Marvel’s Blade during the holiday season, Bakaba stated that the team does not yet have anything to share publicly. He noted that development is progressing internally and that the team is fully focused on delivering a game that meets the standards they have set for themselves and for players. According to Bakaba, everyone at the studio is deeply invested in the project and committed to making it a meaningful experience, even if that means maintaining patience while development continues behind the scenes.

Based on the available information, Marvel’s Blade remains in the early stages of full production compared to the lengthy timelines often associated with large scale single player titles. If Arkane Lyon follows the industry norm of five to six years for a project of this scope, the release window could still be several years away. Even additional promotional material such as a teaser or extended gameplay preview may not surface in the near term. While fans remain eager for updates, the current status indicates that the studio is prioritizing development progress over frequent public communication. For now, the most concrete update on Marvel’s Blade is that work is ongoing, with Arkane Lyon continuing to build the game quietly as expectations remain high following its initial reveal.
