Apple Rolls Out Full Urdu Language Support For iPhone And iPad Users In Pakistan With iOS 26

Apple has officially launched full Urdu language support with the release of iOS 26, enabling iPhone and iPad users in Pakistan to set Urdu as the primary system language across their devices. This marks the first time Apple has offered a complete Urdu interface to the public, expanding accessibility and usability for millions of people who prefer using smartphones in their native language. Previously, only partial Urdu support was available, but now the full iOS interface — including system menus, settings, notifications, and Apple’s built-in apps — can be navigated entirely in Urdu.

Urdu localization first appeared in iOS 18.4 Beta 3 earlier this year, giving developers and testers an opportunity to preview the feature. With iOS 26, Apple has made the Urdu interface available to all users across compatible devices, signaling a significant enhancement for the user experience in Pakistan. The update places the Urdu option under the “iPhone Language” settings menu, where users can easily enable it by navigating to Settings → General → Language & Region → iPhone Language → Urdu. Once selected, the device restarts to apply the changes, ensuring a seamless transition to the Urdu interface.

With over 125 million Urdu speakers in Pakistan, this update offers an important improvement in accessibility for a wide segment of the population. It is especially beneficial for individuals who are more comfortable operating smartphones in their native language, including first-time users and older generations who may have faced challenges using English-language interfaces. By localizing iOS in Urdu, Apple is making its technology more inclusive for Pakistani users, supporting the widespread adoption of smartphones and digital tools in the country.

While the interface now fully supports Urdu text, Apple has indicated that certain features are not yet localized. Voice-based functions such as Siri commands, voice dictation, and some third-party applications still lack complete Urdu integration. Apple has not provided a timeline for when these features will receive full Urdu support. Nevertheless, the addition of a fully localized Urdu interface in iOS 26 is a major step toward improving usability and bridging language barriers for millions of users in Pakistan who rely on Apple devices daily.
