Aga Khan University (AKU) has officially launched its “Automated Information Security Awareness Training Program” across all its campuses and locations worldwide. This new initiative marks a significant step in AKU’s ongoing commitment to building a strong culture of information security within the institution, reinforcing the importance of safeguarding sensitive data and systems in an increasingly digital world.

The global rollout of the program spans AKU’s various campuses and locations, ensuring that all employees are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to protect the organization’s digital infrastructure. The training is designed to be both informative and engaging, featuring a well-designed quiz that participants must pass to successfully complete the program. Upon completion, employees will receive a certificate that recognizes their commitment to information security and their role in maintaining the institution’s cybersecurity posture.

One of the key highlights of this program is its integration with AKU’s Annual Performance Appraisal system. By incorporating information security awareness into the performance evaluation process, AKU ensures that information security is recognized as a core competency for all employees, regardless of their role within the organization. This integration aims to underscore the institution’s belief that cybersecurity is everyone’s responsibility, not just that of the IT or security teams.

The training program is designed to foster a sense of individual accountability, encouraging employees to become active participants in AKU’s broader cybersecurity efforts. With cyber threats becoming increasingly sophisticated and prevalent, the initiative aims to ensure that all members of the AKU community are well-prepared to identify and mitigate risks, contributing to a safer and more secure digital environment.

“We are excited to launch this program, which represents a critical investment in the future of AKU’s digital resilience,” said an AKU spokesperson announcing this on a social media platform. “By building a culture of information security awareness across the entire organization, we are empowering our employees to take ownership of the institution’s cybersecurity. Together, we are creating a more secure environment for everyone at AKU.”

The success of this initiative is attributed to the collaboration between several key departments, including the AKU Chief Information Officer (CIO), Human Resources (HR), ICT Transformation Team, and the Information Security Team. Their collective efforts were instrumental in designing and implementing a program that is both accessible and impactful for all employees, regardless of technical expertise.

The Automated Information Security Awareness Training Program is part of AKU’s broader strategy to strengthen its cybersecurity posture and improve its resilience against evolving digital threats. By fostering greater awareness and participation in information security initiatives, AKU is not only protecting its own assets but also contributing to the wider goal of creating a more secure digital ecosystem.

As the digital landscape continues to evolve, AKU remains committed to staying ahead of emerging threats, ensuring that all members of the institution are well-prepared to protect sensitive information and maintain a secure environment for teaching, learning, and research.
