UN Women Pakistan, in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency, has announced the launch of the Digitalization for Women’s Economic Empowerment initiative, a large scale programme aimed at equipping 15,000 young women across Pakistan with in demand digital skills. The initiative, titled Digitalization for Women’s Economic Empowerment, seeks to empower women aged between 18 and 35 by providing structured training in emerging technology fields including artificial intelligence, data science, coding, graphic design and freelancing, among other disciplines aligned with the evolving digital economy. The programme reflects growing recognition of the need to enhance women’s participation in technology driven sectors and bridge gender gaps in access to economic opportunities.
According to details shared by the organisers, the initiative will go beyond technical instruction and offer comprehensive support mechanisms designed to strengthen employability outcomes. Participants will receive mentorship, career guidance and structured engagement with potential employers, creating pathways for both employment and entrepreneurship. By combining skills training with professional development and market linkages, the programme aims to ensure that beneficiaries are able to translate digital competencies into sustainable income streams. The beneficiary identification process is being conducted by VTT Global, which will oversee outreach and selection to ensure that eligible candidates from diverse backgrounds are able to access the opportunity.
The launch comes at a time when Pakistan’s digital economy continues to expand, with increasing demand for professionals skilled in artificial intelligence, data analytics and remote service delivery. However, women remain underrepresented in many technology related domains due to structural barriers, limited access to training and social constraints. Initiatives such as Digitalization for Women’s Economic Empowerment are intended to address these gaps by providing targeted interventions that respond to both market demand and gender inclusion priorities. By focusing on young women at a formative stage in their careers, the programme seeks to create long term impact through capacity building and enhanced workforce participation.
Stakeholders have encouraged educational institutions, professional networks and community organisations to share information about the initiative widely so that eligible candidates can apply through the official link: https://lnkd.in/dDEwq8Fg. Supporters including National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS), Pakistan have amplified the call, urging female students, recent graduates and early career professionals to take advantage of the opportunity. As Pakistan continues to invest in digital transformation and inclusive growth, collaborative efforts between international development partners and national institutions are increasingly shaping pathways for women to participate more actively in the country’s technology landscape.
