The Punjab Information Technology Board organized a detailed training session on the e-Filing and Office Automation System for officials of the South Punjab Secretariat, aiming to familiarize key government departments with the features and usage of the digital platform. The session, chaired by South Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Fuad Hashim Rabbani, marked another step in advancing Punjab’s e-Governance efforts by reducing reliance on manual paperwork and transitioning to a digital work environment.
Among those in attendance were senior officials including Special Secretary Communication & Works Aftab Pirzada, Additional Secretary Ghulam Abbas, and Engineer Iram Abbas, who serves as the Focal Person from S&GAD South Punjab. The training was delivered by the e-FOAS team from PITB and focused on guiding participants through the functionalities of the system, which is designed to digitize internal workflows, promote transparency, and improve the efficiency of government operations.
The engagement was not limited to those physically present, as Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers from the Highways and Buildings Department South Punjab participated online, reflecting broad departmental involvement and support. The e-FOAS platform, already operational at the South Punjab Secretariat, is being rolled out to additional offices across the region in phases, with the goal of transforming the entire administrative structure into a digitally enabled ecosystem.
This initiative represents a significant shift in how government offices manage documentation, correspondence, and file tracking. By automating these processes, departments can expect to reduce delays, enhance recordkeeping, and create a more responsive public service framework. The shift also aligns with broader environmental goals, as the move toward a paperless system contributes to reduced resource consumption.
PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf shared that the implementation of e-FOAS in South Punjab demonstrates the provincial government’s resolve to deliver efficient, transparent, and tech-driven governance. He emphasized that eliminating physical files not only accelerates administrative processes but also supports environmental sustainability. The training session served as a platform to reinforce this commitment while equipping government personnel with the tools required to operate within a modernized digital system.
As digitization progresses across Punjab, PITB continues to lead efforts to introduce scalable, secure, and citizen-centric solutions. The expansion of e-FOAS reflects the province’s vision to modernize office operations and standardize digital practices across all levels of governance. With increasing inter-departmental coordination and ongoing digital training initiatives, South Punjab stands to benefit from improved service delivery, faster internal communication, and a more efficient public sector workforce.
