Punjab Information Technology Board, in collaboration with Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority, held a dedicated training session focused on the implementation and use of the e-Procurement System for government officials from divisional, district, and tehsil-level offices across Multan Division. The session aimed to build technical capacity and deepen the understanding of how digital tools can streamline public procurement processes at various administrative levels.
PPRA Managing Director Waqar Azim delivered a detailed presentation on the existing legal and regulatory framework governing procurement in Punjab. His remarks helped contextualize how e-Procurement fits within provincial policies and underscored the importance of compliance and accountability in public sector procurement.
PITB’s e-Procurement team led the operational training, offering step-by-step guidance through the various system modules. Participants received hands-on instruction on how to navigate the platform, submit documentation, process tenders, and manage bids digitally. Interactive Q&A sessions provided opportunities for clarification and engagement, allowing officials to raise practical questions related to their day-to-day roles and responsibilities. Feedback was also gathered to improve future training and refine system usability.
Developed by PITB, the e-Procurement system is designed to introduce a paperless, efficient, and secure approach to public sector purchasing. The system is a key part of the broader digitization efforts in Punjab and reflects the government’s commitment to increasing transparency, reducing procedural delays, and minimizing human intervention in sensitive administrative processes.
According to PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf, the rollout of e-Procurement across government departments is aligned with the provincial government’s strategic vision to modernize public service delivery. By allowing vendors from across the province and beyond to submit bids online, the system removes geographical constraints, reduces administrative burdens, and promotes broader participation in government tenders.
The training initiative marks a continued effort to ensure that government officials are fully equipped to use digital platforms in their procurement activities. It also highlights the growing role of inter-agency collaboration in building the necessary infrastructure and technical capabilities for effective digital governance.
This hands-on training for Multan Division officials is part of a series of efforts to scale the use of e-Procurement across Punjab. As more departments adopt the platform, the government expects to see improvements in procurement efficiency, enhanced vendor access, and greater public trust in how resources are allocated and contracts are awarded. The partnership between PITB and PPRA plays a critical role in this transformation by providing both the technological foundation and the policy alignment required for successful adoption of digital tools in public procurement.
