Esteemed tech lawyer Adam Jabbar and tech expert Waqas Ahmed unveiled YourMunshi, an AI platform designed to modernize Pakistan’s legal system. Inspired by the outdated Pakistani justice system, which ranks low compared to the rest of the world, YourMunshi aims to make legal knowledge more accessible and affordable.

The primary challenges in creating the app were the lack of quality data availability and infrastructure for processing and understanding the data. YourMunshi offers unique features such as research, drafting, and predictive analysis. It is the only AI platform in Pakistan trained on Pakistani laws and judgments and can make relevant changes to uploaded documents or draft something from scratch based on entered information.

The app supports multiple languages and goes back as far as cases are available. The speakers discussed the challenges faced by lawyers in accessing the right information due to its privileged and costly nature. They aim to address these issues through YourMunshi and emphasize the importance of using AI as a tool rather than relying on it completely.

YourMunshi covers judgments from 1970 to the present and is updated with the latest judgments. It uses AI to learn and provide outputs based on relevant law codes and citations. Users can search for case law in specific areas and time frames, and the AI solution provides the exact law code definitions, citations, and drafting in formal legal language.

The platform also aims to become a one-stop solution for legal matters by connecting law firms and attorneys. There are plans to offer different pricing packages for various user groups, including students and corporations. The official launch of YourMunshi is scheduled for:

– September 17th in Islamabad
– September 19th in Lahore
– September 21st in Karachi

The speakers discussed the potential benefits of using AI in the legal field, such as preventing the forgetting of important information and addressing information management issues in sectors like banking and management consulting. They invited collaboration and encouraged adoption of new technologies to keep up with the rapidly changing technological landscape.

In addition, the speakers mentioned that the European Union has introduced the AI act, which highlights the challenges of predicting case outcomes with a specific percentage of accuracy. They also discussed the importance of making AI accessible to non-tech-savvy individuals, particularly those in Pakistan with low literacy levels. To address this, YourMunshi will accept inputs and generate outputs in local languages, making it more accessible to a wider audience.

The third phase of YourMunshi plans to incorporate voice input and output in local languages, starting in big cities and gradually expanding to rural areas and less privileged communities. The speakers emphasized the opportunity for Pakistan to join the global AI trend and address various social issues through AI applications in areas such as law, healthcare, education, and governance.
